Problems setting up dnsmasq for DHCP/DNS on 16.04 server - Ask Ubuntu
i've been running small slackware based server quite while. uses dnsmaq provide dhcp/dns services rest of network. simple setup, been working several years. i'm supporting few ubuntu servers in small business, , i've got tired of updating slackware. decided try new test server using ubuntu 16.04.1 server.
everything going fine until got setting dnsmasq. used same config use under slackware, below:
domain-needed bogus-priv resolv-file=/etc/nameserver.list #server=/localnet/192.168.1.1 local=/ibmpeers.net/ domain=ibmpeers.net expand-hosts dhcp-range=192.168.1.100,192.168.1.200,12h dhcp-host=00:01:d2:04:0b:d8,openwrt,192.168.1.92 dhcp-option=option:router,192.168.1.254 dhcp-authoritative
i use file listing upstream dns servers. /etc/resolv.conf contains localhost.
moving same config file ubuntu server failed work - dhcp local network worked, there no dns anything, either server or other machines on network.
i managed results disabling resolvconf , putting ignore_resolvconf=yes /etc/default/dnsmasq, once put ubuntu server onto static ip, local dns other machines on network doesn't work.
i tried using resolvconf, adding nameservers /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base, doesn't work @ all.
i'm not familiar ubuntu, i'm wondering if has samples of setting dnsmasq dhcp/dns under 16.04 server?
