mount - Lost access to ubuntu when changing home partition - Ask Ubuntu

i running out of space on linux partition decided move /home drive. had around 16.6 gb free space , have loved add existing drive, gparted not allowing add linux partition free space existed before (left side) of linux partition. thought why not make free space separate drive , move /home it. following tutorial given @ https://help.ubuntu.com/community/partitioning/home/moving

following tutorial, able move home new drive. however, realized there 2 gb free space left. (i should have looked @ before) thought chop off more space windows drive , add /home partition. this, needed make /home partition unallocated space increase size.

thus, wanted move /home partition linux drive, way before. changed /etc/fstab entry partition had added /media/home.

i ran command sudo mount -a.

i tried copy the old_home /home think /home still pointing other partition. restarted system.(this stupid).

now, unable login account.

how out of mess?

you can start computer using live system (cd, dvd, usb-stick), mount partitions , order mess, i.e. copying files intended destination and/or change fstab.
