synaptic - How to completely delete all files pertaining to a program - Ask Ubuntu


this question has answer here:

how delete files pertaining installed program has not worked? think no 1 wants fill computer odd bits , ends aborted installations, dependencies don‘t pan out &c.

i suppose use package manager that, such synaptic. how?

my immediate concern here how rid of files related lanmessenger, i’ve been trying make work no success, seems keep asking more , more dependencies. last time sort of thing happened, ended freezing everything, , took me days able boot again.

you can remove files belonging given package using

sudo apt purge <package name>

so in case:

sudo apt purge lanmessenger

if want remove dependencies no longer used, can run:

sudo apt autoremove
