ibus - Why is language change not taking effect? - Ask Ubuntu
question: why the/how fix language input not changing after switch next text entry source?
what did: wanted install text-entry support hangul ibus-hangul
(korean, package includes hanja, chinese character equivalent korean words) this worked me before.; simplified chinese/pinyin ibus-sunpinyin

sudo apt-get install ibus-hangul
,sudo apt-get install ibus-sunpinyin

sudo reboot

. - text entry: add
korean (hangul) (ibus)
,chinese (sunpinyin) (ibus)
,chinese (chewing) (ibus)

anomalies observed:

under hangul entry mode, don't see settings language hangul/hanja. figure 1 (expected) vs. figure 2 (what appearing right now)
after changing languages, other language icon appears in taskbar cannot type in desired language.
under hangul entry mode, if click keyboard layout chart, layout chart korean (101/104 key compatible), another text-entry mode in text entry.
under sunpinyin , chewing entry modes, if click keyboard layout chart, layout chart english (us).
in language support after installing languages appear grayed out. language in solid black english , english (us). figure 3
