Problems to login in Ubuntu 14.04 after new update (Friday) - Ask Ubuntu


this question has answer here:

yesterday (november 4), update ubuntu 14.04. after can't login. loop. type password, enter , it's return login-screen.

the same happen if try guest mode.

after research, found problems isn't login itself. video card driver.

any clue?

i have exact same problem. seems related nvidia driver update (when reinstalling nvidia-driver can see error not finding systemctl might explain issue).

i uninstalled nvidia package with:

sudo apt-get remove -purge nvidia*

it allows me login again, of course use intel graphic driver.

any solution ability switch between intel , nvidia welcome ;-)

Windows XP installation, no previous version of Windows NT - Super User
