acer - Laptop won't restart after update without removing battery! - Ask Ubuntu


this happened second time morning (first weeks ago).

regular update process asking reboot agreed. acer v3 771 laptop got stuck on acer splash screen. didn't complain of not being able find boot device sits there.

using power button hard shut off makes no difference sits on splash screen.

removing power , battery few seconds fixes problem.

i can go through normal shutdown/restart procedure absolutely fine. times i've seen software update initiated restart. i've been running ubuntu many years , using 16.04 lts.

pretty weird isn't it?

sorry. nothing see here. laptop trying boot old usb stick. removing battery coincided disconnecting usb hub.

Windows XP installation, no previous version of Windows NT - Super User
