How do I change permissions so I can edit the PAM password file? - Ask Ubuntu


i leading group of students working ubuntu 14.04. need add password edits, , have been able type them in, unable save due file being read only. have tried change permissions, keep getting "operation not permitted."

help, please :)

try putting sudo in front of command. said if using gedit need use gksu gedit instead of putting sudo in front.

we see occasional questions students here needing homework projects first 1 teacher i've seen....
