x-post ubuntu budgie google+ group..
hello, here explain me went wrong install? ran issue had windows 10 configured on ssd, , wanted install ubuntu budgie on dual boot purposes. made way leaving 2 of 3 windows partitions, windows partition got rid of recovery partition manually re-formatted swap space, fourth (and last) partition formatted ext4 linux os. after installed , running first red flag noticed windows did not appear in boot list when restarting machine , selecting boot options, dismissed @ first , continued on. after software center (update all) run through restarted , was given black screen login box. still kept username , showed computer name (nemo) in top left after entering password screen regenerate , put me endless loop of signing in. apologize crap terminology , noobie question, i'm trying started linux can migrate daily computing macos on linux distro proving quite difficult. i'm in process of reinstalling windows fresh on wiped ssd, , i'm considering using different drive entirely put linux on avoid , potential boot issues. (side note, taking place on gaming pc, not mac)
well, don't need use 2 drives. windows can have many primary partitions on single drive, linux can have 4 primary partitions (pp). when install windows, consume system partition (pp1) , os partition (pp2). should create large pp common data, accessible win , lin both. can ntfs. rest free space can used create 2 logical partitions. 1 lin /root (about 30 gb ext4) , swap. these lps created via linux live environment gparted. can install linux normally. don't fail put grub on mbr (sda/hda). thats it. won't need /home, can mount ntfs large common data partition access , write data, in win , linux. if have uefi machine, create ext2 lp /boot.
hope helps.
