debian - Kali Linux - Debootstrap error Failed to determine codename for the release - Super User
installing new kali linux 2016 rolling release hdd via usb.
i made bootable usb using universal usb. booted off usb , selected "graphical install", had issue @ beginning install prompting cannot find data in cdrom, pulled usb , waited 30 seconds, plugged in waited 30 seconds plugged in , allowed me continue through install.
i enabled lvm , went through whole process once done went next step "install system" @ point error
debootstrap error failed determine codename release
at point cannot go further in installation. went "debian installer menu" , executed shell. shell tried mount usb /cdrom using "mount -t vfat /dev/sdb1 /cdrom" found on debian forum. receive following error "mounting /dev/sdb1 on /cdrom failed: no such file or directory" try mkdir cdrom, states exists. sdb1 usb according "mount"
i not sure @ point. advice great. thanks.
i had same issue installing kali linux usb. tried install os graphical install , simple install. latter worked without error. went straight "installing system" screen.
i've found information on usb stick might bad. people changing usb stick helped. did not me. got same error 3 usb sticks, , hdd 2tb space on it, boot partition of 100 gb.
