Dual-booting Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 on separate hard drives - Ask Ubuntu
in computer, have 1tb hdd , 32gb ssd. windows 10 installed onto 1tb hdd , nothing stored on ssd.
i want dual-boot ubuntu 16.04 , install onto 32gb ssd concerned storage size of drive. able access both drives within ubuntu in order store files on hdd? have partition hdd before able access memory on store files while using ubuntu?
32gb ssd enough ubuntu if don't install lot of large applications in ubuntu consume lot of disk space.
ubuntu able access 1tb hdd having windows 10(windows 10 not able access 32gb ssd have ubuntu). recommend shrink windows 10 partition on 1tb hdd , create partition(of ntfs file system) can use data/stuff can accessed both windows 10 , ubuntu. due setup, if later on encounter problems in either windows 10 or ubuntu, data safe , can access operating system working properly. removing operating system not remove data in different partition.
since windows 10 doesn't shut down completely(by default), therefore won't able mount windows 10 in ubuntu 16.04. in order so, have disable fast boot in windows 10. can going control panel -> hardware , sound -> power options -> choose power buttons -> change settings unavailable. scroll bottom of window , uncheck turn on fast startup (recommended) box. after that, shut down windows 10 , boot ubuntu 16.04. find windows 10 partition(which ntfs type) gets mounted !
