Wallpaper flickers on external displays on 16.10 - Ask Ubuntu


after (re)installing 16.10, when using external displays laptop (dell xps13 9333), wallpaper flickers in weird way. when dragging windows around desktop, leave trail. windows rendered properly, , icons on desktop. wallpaper has issue. it's parts of screen.

what's going on , how fix it?

i had same problem on thinkpad x230 , external dell u2415 monitor. tried different things, updating drivers, switching settings nothing helps.

try install compizconfig settings manager:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

and play settings in workarounds under unity category. me helpful against flickering - force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint.

Windows XP installation, no previous version of Windows NT - Super User
