boot - Removing Windows 10 - Ask Ubuntu
i realize looks duplicate question it's not.
i have asus eee notebook windows 10. want remove windows 10 , install ubuntu.
i've wandered through other answers , start "pop in bootable cd or usb follow set of selections offered"
problem ubuntu screen of selections never comes up. have 3 different usb sticks i've used before don't work , 2 cd disks i've used before , none either boot or come the selections screen. i've tried redhat 7.2 cd didn't work. build usb sticks on 16.04 machine using create startup disk various isos ubuntu.
the closest i've gotten choice of "help me boot cd" seems install kind of secondary mbr offers choice of ubuntu or windows. when choose ubuntu error 000007 forces me down path windows boot.
i happily format drive , start scratch if gparted windows says have format cd in order use it. (same usb)
it seems windows aggressive letting ubuntu software near hardware won't let grub near it.
i'm tapped on ideas. thoughts?
here useful article usb. other issue can arise uefi/bios can resolved couple of simple steps:
- follow steps in linked article create bootable ubuntu usb.
- restart computer , repeatedly tap f2 manufacturer logo shows (for asus f2, want check pc). open bios.
- in bios, use arrow keys enter "boot" section.
- in there increase priority of usb:hdd/usb:flash drive (whichever have) top of list. (there instructions on how in bios itself, around)
finally, plug usb computer, save these changes , exit. should boot live usb, if doesn't restart , try again!
hope help!
