Install NVIDIA driver on Ubuntu without desktop environment - Ask Ubuntu


is desktop environment (e.g. gnome) necessary nvidia driver installation? i'm trying install on terminal-only ubuntu, , driver can't detect hardware.

it should unnecessary. @ last installed driver without desktop environment. however, installed lightdm first--it may essential or not.
