Ubuntu 14.04 Login Loop with additional monitor issue - Ask Ubuntu
i appear having relatively common login loop error described here ubuntu gets stuck in login loop. in brief, after login attempt, screen blacks out 5 seconds, , returns login screen
i aware there variety of solutions problem, resolved editing .xauthority
file. however, of these solutions start logging shell e.g. ctrl + alt + f3. when attempt log in shell, monitor goes idle. if cycle through using alt + ->, can return normal login screen after couple of goes.
i suspect shell login screen whatever reason being output different non-existent screen. using macmini 2011 vga output. can offer solutions?
i see mac mini uses ati graphics using fglrx, if updated hardware enablement stack incompatible fglrx , recommended use amdgpu (good luck that, i've been unsuccessful, if has guides i'd hear) have 2 choices go terminal ctrl+alt+f1
, enter command sudo apt-get remove fglrx*
reset basic radeon drivers quite frankly suck.
or can uninstall current image revert last version used, sudo apt-get remove linux-image-4.4.0-*
, won't security updates.
i've chosen second option, , feel sketchy it, can't option 1 function satisfactory level.
