14.04 - Upgrading interrupted and apt-get got broken, how to fix it? - Ask Ubuntu
i upgrading 14.04.5 16.04 using software updater on laptop. after closed lid , trigered system suspend during downloaded packages installing, didn't go sleep mode. so, opened lid found screen went black date , "root" label on top bar. clicking mouse or pressing button did nothing give flash on screen. thought maybe because upgrading going on, , left computer on day , left work. when came laptop , find screen left , no response button press. so, went tty mode , found there broken things (i don't remember what's on screen). tried typed in sudo apt-get update
, , returned message showing apt-get
broken (maybe told me soft links cannot found well). turned off computer , restarted it, , couldn't go login screen more. systemd status systemd-modules-load.service
showed there errors on loading core modules, , system gave on booting ubuntu. apt
module couldn't loaded update-notifier/apt-check
, python3
or something.
could shadow light on me fix problem? don't have files backed because of lack of spare disks, , thought wouldn't have problem upgrade 1 lts another. happened, , made ubuntu system unuseable. thanks.
