An external usb storage device auto-mounts with root permissions - Ask Ubuntu

i have no problems using usb sticks etc. ubuntu 16.04 lts. time, when inserted 1 tb seagate storage device, showed in file explorer, not able copy files it. saw in properties device mounted root permissions. why happen , how fix it?

in ubuntu, usb drives, once mounted, in /media directory

cp /media/your-usb/file-in-usb ~

that copies file on usb disk user's home directory, assuming drive called your-usb , file file-in-usb.
