software center - Standard UI For Studio? - Ask Ubuntu

is there way change ui ubuntu studio standard one?

to illustrate mean "standard" one:

i've got 3 problems conspiring make ubuntu studio system virtually unusable:

  1. there outstanding bug wifi disconnects me internet , way reboot.
  2. there outstanding bug ubuntu shutdown causes hang.
  3. if 1 presses reset button or pull plug reboot leaves system in state where, upon boot, causes startup of programs fail system partially working: dual monitor comes single monitor (mirrored), of startup programs (skype, dropbox, etc.) aren't running , net won't restart. repeatedly rebooting things "normal" -- usual 2 or 3 reboots. fortunately reboots don't hang.

trying find out workarounds of these problems inevitably takes me posts on askubuntu.com directions this:

go system settings->software , updates->developer options tab click box next pre-release (xenial-proposed). enter root pwd, refresh cache. updates tab use "display updates drop down" close system settings. start software updater , install now.

yes, can figure out means in terms of studio ui takes hours of work.

i'd rather ditch studio ui , have "standard" can work done.

change ui

  1. remove ubuntustudio-desktop package apt purge ubuntustudio-desktop.
  2. install ubuntu-desktop package.
  3. you can select desktop want log login screen, see: switching window manager/desktop environments?

you know have 'standard' ubuntu ui.

change whole os

  1. download ubuntu 16.04.1 https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop.
  2. install (as did studio version)
  3. now install applications might need (every multimedia application in studio available in versions).
