Can I keep the laptop lid open all the time? - Super User


i have laptop use main computer @ home , take me. setup dual monitor system, have main monitor , use laptop screen second monitor.

since don't move keep laptop lid open. okay if don't close @ all, not when it's turned off? seems ok, wonder if lid hinges designed hold weight of open monitor time.

what think? stupid question? :)

they more capable of holding open, it's better way. more move lid, more wear apply hinges on time. ensure clean laptop every once in while, if dirt builds , hard close, may damage trying force closed. keeping open allows dust speakers easier if type built around keyboard.
