dual boot - Help with partitioning - Ask Ubuntu


i attempting install ubuntu alongise windows on laptop 128gb ssd. when got step partition drive, decided allocate 25 gb ubuntu. computer froze.

i looked around , read it's recommended first run ubuntu off of flash drive , use gparted partition drive way. decided do. however, when got gparted, realized still bit confused. not sure partition select , what, on.

@wineunuuchs2unix right - have shrink windows partition inside windows.

you should able find option when right click on computer -> manage. in new window should see left pane, 1 of options should let manage disks. should backup data first before doing there small chance (but still happens) disk may corrupted in process.

after have shrunk windows partition, should able use gparted add new partition install ubuntu on (if got confused ui, sure there askubuntu post talk ;) ).
