Gnome terminal causes separate icon in launcher - Ask Ubuntu


as of 16.10 (i think), starting gnome terminal causes new icon appear in launcher, dot next it. starting instance causes dot appear.

how can prevent behaviour?

i remember seeing chrome this, , had manually edit .desktop file avoid second icon. similar work gnome terminal? i'm using version 3.20.2.

this happens quite (i reinstall different versions of gnome-terminal). don't know cause of issue, remove old icon (the 1 without "dots") , lock new 1 launcher.

Windows XP installation, no previous version of Windows NT - Super User
