system installation - Loop when installing Ubuntu 16.04 - Ask Ubuntu
i'm trying install ubuntu 16.04 live install usb drive onto old "hp pavillion entertainment pc" (i think it's ~2008).
in installation wizard through "welcome", "preparing install ubuntu" , "installation type" pages without obvious trouble, picking defaults way along. brings me "erase disk , install ubuntu" page, "install now" button. when click button, spins moment, , heading in window changes "installation type". rest of window contents not change, , "install now" button still there. if click on second time, i'm sent actual "installation type" page! tried few times seem stuck in loop.
i've used exact same usb drive install on machine, , verified image not corrupt after downloaded it.
i did run this issue earlier in process, used proposed solution on page around it.
how past loop?
it appears installer somehow getting tripped because of existing installation of linux mint on machine. wanted wipe out installation, did within ubuntu "live" environment before running installer:
