boot - How to move Ubuntu into RAM AFTER booting, whilst deleting as much as possible? - Ask Ubuntu

this post suggests how move ubuntu ram

http://dreamlayers.blogspot.com/2012/10/running-linux-from-ram.html

i'm wanting pretty same, on low memory system 512mb or less.

so, given "standard" ubuntu 16.04 server, directories delete trim down minimum before moving whole thing ram , running there? put way, not essential?

by "minimum" mean ability run many of command command line utils plus run scripts, interpreters i.e. python.

the ultimate idea able reformat hard disk server booted from, , after still have of "common" command line tools available carrying out various tasks required install new operating system onto top of existing hard disk.

my specific question being, can delete base install of ubuntu server 16.04 whilst still having functional os common uses?
