nvidia - Ubuntu 16.04; Not Sending Signal to Dual Monitor Setup But Works With Single Monitor - Ask Ubuntu
so problem whenever try plugging in second monitor, ubuntu crashes. works fine when single monitor plugged in. when plugging in second monitor , having ubuntu stop sending signal monitors, i've tried sshing in check /var/log/xorg.0.log , see if system can see either monitor @ all, no luck since system crashes (still new os; don't know if there other logs can check me out). similar problem when try booting system both monitors plugged in: make grub, , ubuntu crashes.
i've read through older forum questions , dug around google solutions. i've tried uninstalling , reinstalling nvidia drivers , tried nouveau drivers found in additional drivers (i have gtx 970). solutions, , trying different wires (which shouldn't problem because setup works windows), find.
any suggestions? if duplicate question, missed first time question asked. if point me in right direction, appreciate it. thanks!
edit/update
after running 2 scripts in background , sending/updating output xrandr
, cat /var/log/xorg.0.log | grep monitor
2 separate files, after system crashes, xrandr
did show second monitor , shows status 'connected' on video card's port, second monitor never shows in xorg.0.log; primary one. not sure how useful information is, thought should include here.
