16.10 upgrade breaks graphics drivers - Ask Ubuntu


i have acer aspire v3-772 laptop set dual boot windows 10 , ubuntu. has nvidia geforce gtx 760m , intel hd graphics 4600. has been running fine on ubuntu 16.04. upgraded 16.10 , video makes unusable. screen either goes black after 2 seconds , stays black until move mouse (as stop moving mouse, screen goes black again) or fills white noise persists 20 seconds , returns rapidly flickering desktop. way make usable boot 4.4 kernel rather new 4.8. have advice how make graphics usable on 4.8 kernel?
