compression - Any way to multithread dpkg-deb - Ask Ubuntu


compression 500mb deb takes long time. still need compression. there anyway multithread it?

there's pxz, pigz, pbzip2. there way can dpkg-deb use 1 of these. or maybe replace existing non-parallel libraries on system these implementations?

i've searched while, seems depk-deb allows limited amount of customization compression options.

i'm using ubuntu 14.04.

there no official support in dpkg's libraries @ point. there patch can try use.

replacing libraries not option because not binary compatible. wrapper library needed.

installed ubuntu mate 16.04 lts on decade-old desktop. lspci -k shows: 01:00.0 vga compatible controller: nvidia corporation nv18 [geforce4 mx 4000] (rev c1) subsystem: xfx pine group inc. nv18 [geforce4 mx 4000] kernel driver in use: nouveau kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau i wonder nvidia-* driver package need install. thought should nvidia-96 , far checked, there no nvidia-96 package available.
