16.04 - Cannot enable Unity Plugin in ccsm - Ask Ubuntu

i've tried enabling unity plugin described in answer (https://askubuntu.com/a/717860/235839) (and several others).

nothing changes.

when try again, find plugin's checkbox isn't enabled. apparently un-enables after closing ccsm.

is there other way enable unity plugin--a command-line sequnce follow, perhaps?

i encountered similar problem today , none of usual fixes working me either.

i able resolve right clicking on desktop clicking on "open terminal" used following command:

mv ~/.cache/compizconfig-1 ~/.cache/compizconfig-old

after doing typing following brought full unity desktop back:

setsid unity

hopefully might or other users suffering similar symptoms, seems there issue compizconfig cache perhaps file became corrupted somehow not certain.
