networking - Would a USB Ethernet adapter use the same drivers as the on-board Ethernet port? - Ask Ubuntu


my issue this: turned installed ubuntu 16.04 on 2009 macbook pro. having issue forcedeth drivers run ethernet port, don't work. can adhoc connection pass connectivity linux machine, won't signal plugged straight gateway. have tried numerous solutions drivers , thing still wont connect, i've moved on workarounds.

my question if used usb ethernet dongle, use same drivers regular ethernet port? i'm not sure if valid workaround or instance of me not understanding how ubuntu deals hardware.
