grub2 - Attempting to set up Dual boot Win8.1/Ubuntu 16.04 and struggling - Ask Ubuntu
using asus x551ca laptop running windows 8.1.
i created usb flash installer ubuntu 16.04 , attempted install ubuntu alongside windows. during install alert came suggesting uefi may not best option , inviting me go back. assuming windows may have been installed using bios (legacy csm in asus-speak) followed guidance , install completed fine. there no option boot windows when restarted.
i ran installer again , opted uefi route on assumption windows using uefi, , if installed ubuntu on same basis resolve problem. same result - able boot ubuntu no sign of option boot windows.
went first install option , when complete ran boot-repair. output @ http://paste2.org/fnfnn2mp
now confused , seeking guidance. in advance.
run sudo-update grub
terminal.
grub automatically detect windows boot partitions; however, fast startup must disabled, , windows must not in hibernated state.
