LibreOffice Fresh to LibreOffice Still - Ask Ubuntu


i'm using libreoffice fresh in ubuntu 16.10. there way switch libreoffice fresh libreoffice still? think it's more stable.

you need remove "fresh" (and ppa used if used ppa) , install "stable" (or "still") version. if use normal installation methods.

"stable" has different version version used in ubuntu. use stable version released when ubuntu features got frozen; few days/weeks before final release.

if install both source can switch. easy setup:

  • put each of libreoffices own directory in /opt/ instance ...

    /opt/libreoffice-fresh/ /opt/libreoffice-stable/

    (add versionnumber directory if want more these 2)

  • create symlink executable 

    /opt/libreoffice

    and use start libreoffice (ie. add path or connect normal libreoffice executable.

  • switching between 2 simple pointing symlink other version.

as alternative: libreoffice comes in snap versions. way can install 1 using "snap" , other through normal channel.

running libreoffice version installed snap

after installing, version of libreoffice installed via snap can started command:

/snap/bin/libreoffice

omitting full path starts version of libreoffice installed distribution instead, if there one.

renaming snap directory allow installing more 1.

Windows XP installation, no previous version of Windows NT - Super User
