Ubuntu Touch RC version 42 bricked my Nexus 4 - Ask Ubuntu
i have been running nexus 4 ubuntu touch (mako) rc (http://system-image.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch/rc/ubuntu/mako/) last month. it's great overall.
this morning got notification update ubuntu touch available. "sweet!" thought, , went ahead , clicked update. phone said needed restart install update.
after restarted, saw ubuntu progress bar increasing. left phone , came half hour later backlit black screen. phone didn't respond restarted holding down power button.
now phone boots through google boot screen ubuntu splash screen dots. cycles through dots few times screen goes black (still backlit). backlighting responds me clicking screen lock , unlock (power) button. other nothing.
i've tried attach laptop (ubuntu gnome 16.10). nautilus sees device when click on mount error
unable access "nexus 4" unable open mtp device '[usb:003,006]'
the phone still boot recovery without problem. unforunately don't have backup restore (doh!).
what can try , phone working again?
edit: can interact phone on adb
. ran:
$ adb devices $ adb shell
which has given me phablet@ubuntu-phablet:
prompt. can see stuff in home directory nice.
edit 2: while phone has been sitting on desk, did start ringing @ 1 point. still receiving calls. screen blank couldn't answer call.
it seems ui failure in update. so, when adb works, can reflash device e.g. via ubuntu-device-flash tool keeping personal data (use -h documentation).
edit: found fortunely in landing team: https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone/msg22825.html it's meizu pro5 having same problem. seems harder problem. luck :)
