usb drive - my hp 2000 wont recognize usb - Ask Ubuntu

my laptop has no boot os whatsoever , wanted install ubuntu using usb because disk drive broken. when tried install using usb, usb wont recognize in boot options. know there lot of people problem because before ask research first every 1 had similar problems had answers not use. ask self.

i have tried following:

1) have tried booting "usb diskette on key/usb hard disk" in bios boot options.

2) have tried press f9 boot usb there there nothing select.

3) tried boot ethernet due me not knowing doing , me being in library did not work.

increase usb's boot priority on bios options. happening things stands, os has higher boot priority usb device. increase usb's boot priority following:

  • switch on computer , depending manufacturer of bios, press either esc, f1, f2, f8 or f10 moment pc switches on(note 1 of keys should work, 1 exactly, differ pc pc, depending on bios manufacturer hence suggested above keys). bios setup utility page should appear, mine looks this:

bios main

  • go "boot" tab.

increase usb boot priority

  • using arrows keys, move [usb] boot priority(in case on position 4). suggest move way number 1 now(you can come , move down priority list once installation done).
  • go "exit" tab , choose save changes , exit: save changes , exit
  • shutdown pc , insert usb want install ubuntu from(if moved usb way number 1 on priority list, sit , relax, pc should boot usb automatically, no need press keys)
  • continue ubuntu installation process.
