where can information why ubuntu upgrade kernel, in fact know if upgrade corrects security issue (and one) or whatever.

you can change logs available upgraded packages (not kernel). 1 source ubuntu security notices. 1 package directory. there you'll find, example, information linux-image-4.4.0-45-generic. in sidebar on right, there's link changelogs.

but should aware information in changelogs technical , can contain lot of jargon. more general information, linux media (websites, newsletters etc.) may alternative.

installed ubuntu mate 16.04 lts on decade-old desktop. lspci -k shows: 01:00.0 vga compatible controller: nvidia corporation nv18 [geforce4 mx 4000] (rev c1) subsystem: xfx pine group inc. nv18 [geforce4 mx 4000] kernel driver in use: nouveau kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau i wonder nvidia-* driver package need install. thought should nvidia-96 , far checked, there no nvidia-96 package available.
