as of week ago, desktop has exhibited following problems - starting @ once.
after cold boot or restart reach login screen in normal amount of time, after entering password there's noticeable hitch, end on black screen mouse cursor.
if leave alone few minutes, taskbar , launcher appear.
besides taskbar , launcher, desktop remains black (as if there's no longer wallpaper set), computer otherwise functional.
all icons in top-right corner of screen have 'missing image' icon:
as far know didn't make configuration changes @ time, besides perhaps installing updates. here's system information; please ask if else helpful.
- ubuntu 16.04 lts
- unity 7.4.0
- intel core i3 3.3ghz x 4 / 8gb ram
- gallium 0.4 on amd turks (drm 2.43.0, llvm 3.8.0)
here think the log of last apt
operation before started having trouble. right @ end shows error: sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg exited unexpectedly
- i'm not sure in particular it's referring to, or how recover it.
thanks in advance!
i can't i'm of root cause here, re-updating seems have gotten things normal.
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt autoremove sudo reboot
my best guess based on logs went terribly wrong while updating window manager unity (7.4.0+16.04.20160906-0ubuntu1)
@ least caused bunch of built-in assets go missing. upgrade fixed install.
