it's not simple backup system settings* there's answer here. factory data reset might reinstall ubuntu. follow instructions here make bootable ubuntu usb stick if haven't , install ubuntu it. you'll want use option 'erase disk , install ubuntu' when it, presuming you're not dualbooting.

*i suppose if want easy option in ubuntu try reporting bug on launchpad command ubuntu-bug asking submitting feature request ignored.
