Accidentally modified .bashrc and now I cant login despite entering password correctly - Ask Ubuntu

i messed bigtime bashrc file. installing gurobi , had set path variables in bashrc file. so, replaced text in bashrc path variables , saved bashrc file. , made sure, if bad happens, have backup of file. original unmodified backup file in downloads folder.

now when restarted system, not able login despite giving proper password. hence, i'd ask help. kind of fixes possible given fact still have bashrc file in downloads directory

use liveusb or livedvd.

boot live session, mount hard-drive, , copy original .bashrc file on modified.

then can safely reboot (eject usb or dvd).

general info: in case wouldn't have backup of .bashrc file, can use 1 liveusb/dvd.
