command line - How to get a login screen on a serial terminal? - Ask Ubuntu
i trying connect serial (dumb) terminal ubuntu 16.04lts system. there how-to's around, have problems them . need "simple" logon message on serial terminal - after unixoids multi-user-systems. 1 of suggestions led dead system, requiring re-install.
gtkterm using /dev/ttys0 connects ok terminal, i.e. typing text on serial terminal , reading on gtkterm works ok typing on gtk , reading on dumb terminal - connection set-up ok.
i read "https://help.ubuntu.com/community/serialconsolehowto", not sure portions need when need additional "login" screen on dumb terminal, "only".
for above text, set-up file ttys0 mentioned facing issues when entering sudo start ttys0

the user member of these groups: uucp dialout cdrom sudo dip plugdev lpadmin sambashare
i don't want tamper grub etc, need ubuntu login-screen, ones see when typing e.g. ctrl-alt 1..6, on serial dumb terminal.
