apt - Why some packages in xenial have a higher version number than yakkety - Ask Ubuntu

why packages in xenial have higher version number on yakkety.

for example mariadb version 10.0.27 on xenial, version 10.0.25 in yakkety. 4.8 kernel has higher version in xenial.

this issue, because many of xenial package not upgraded when upgrading 16.04 16.10. because of had inconsistencies.

i have 4.4% packages no longer downloadable, many because version in xenial higher yakkety.

since .deb files version specific, because developer hasn't compiled code version of ubuntu. updated if it's popular repository. luck! - exp3rt
