16.04 - Does Canonical Livepatch push updates - Ask Ubuntu

i reading blog http://insights.ubuntu.com/2016/10/31/dirty-cow-was-livepatched-in-ubuntu-within-hours-of-publication/ explained how livepatch users got dirty cow fix quickly.

what know is, canonical push out security updates, or pulled in scheduled update task?

your question imo quite broad , security complex topic.

  1. ubuntu security notices here - https://www.ubuntu.com/usn/

  2. to answer question, no ubuntu not "push" on you, have update system. updates include bug fixes , security patches.

  3. you can automate security updates if desire - how can install security updates command line?

  4. ubuntu uses apparmor guard against 0 day exploits. see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/apparmor , https://help.ubuntu.com/community/apparmor although not sure if apparmor work in situation suspect not.

  5. other security models exist although not believe effective against dirty cow.
