14.04 - Can't find libusb-1.0-0-dev package - Ask Ubuntu

i running hplip , tells me need install several packages.

it tries install these packages , fails. 1 of packages libusb-1.0-0-dev.

i tried running sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0-0-dev , error

couldn't find package regex 'libusb-1.0-0-dev'

i know package exists because has own page on packages.ubuntu.com. reason can't package? assume i'll able fix rest too, then.

this bug, can download libusb-1.0-0-dev ubuntu 14.04 manually official ubuntu download webpage. @ webpage there table can select os's architecture, either amd64 or i386, , click 1 of them take download page libusb-1.0-0-dev .deb file. after downloading .deb file, double-click open installation in ubuntu software center.

the reason why can't package may related the reason why package has been reported missing default gnome software application in ubuntu 16.04. when researched missing package, found out still downloaded manually servers, not downloaded manually of available servers. instead of downloading .deb file, clicking on download link opened webpage full of garbled, meaningless text.
