boot - Slow performance compared to Ubuntu Live - USB 3 drive - Ask Ubuntu
i have created installation usb (sandisk cruzer, usb 2.0) , performance - firefox , other applications run pretty smoothly. wanted portable setup, installed ubuntu 16.04 on pny 64 gb usb 3.0 drive. have 500mb fat32 partition efi, 11 gb swap partition, , rest ext4 partition.
i had initial booting problems (graphics) seems miraculously resolved restarts. however, performance extremely slow. mean live ubuntu of sandisk usb 2.0 drive loads ~10 seconds, while full installation pny usb 3.0 pendrive loads @ ~10 minutes. , extremely laggy.
any idea should do?
you can use link , links use boot options , in case try nomodeset,
a persistent live setup limited 4 gb if use 'casper-rw' file, can use partition label 'casper-rw', , limited size of usb drive. can use ssd or hard disk drive it, there usb 3 pendrives, fast , big enough. can use mkusb create persistent live systems automatically 'casper-rw' partition. see following links , and links them.
but best solution make installed system work well. let hope chip in , amd radeon r270 card.
