Ctrl-b + c, %, n, w, etc not working in tmux console - Ask Ubuntu


i installed tmux using sudo apt-get install tmux on ubuntu 16.04 system.

i tried running tmux typing tmux in terminal.that went on fine. none of functions "creating new window ctrl-b + c" , "list windows ctrl-b + w ", "split window 2 ctrl-b + % " seems work. no response

what should do?

release c-b before press other commands

installed ubuntu mate 16.04 lts on decade-old desktop. lspci -k shows: 01:00.0 vga compatible controller: nvidia corporation nv18 [geforce4 mx 4000] (rev c1) subsystem: xfx pine group inc. nv18 [geforce4 mx 4000] kernel driver in use: nouveau kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau i wonder nvidia-* driver package need install. thought should nvidia-96 , far checked, there no nvidia-96 package available.
