unity - How do I get rid of black bars around windows? - Ask Ubuntu


ever since upgraded 16.10, after suspend, drop shadows compositor black bars:

large black window borders

i don't think x or kernel bug, because if run display=:0 unity --replace, glitches go away, , normal. however, annoying run , tends freeze computer solid 60 seconds.

is there unity / compiz settings need adjust fix this?

i had issues while after resume.

i updated latest kernel (which 4.8 stable @ time) , issues gone. fix because of updated graphics drivers.

without knowing more machine, best bet (assuming running intel integrated graphics, , not nvidia or needs proprietary driver).
