as have mbp narrow screen (13-inch), i'd hide launcher (see system setting > appearance > behavior > auto-hide launcher) in ubuntu gain settle more space. if that, there exist shortcut on board display related spotlight bar osx or application 4- on website osx can apply under ubuntu?

p.s. have macbook pro (13-inch, mid 2012), , i'm using ubuntu virtual machine under vb.

you can show described in "application 4" of post linked in question holding altand pressing tab each time want move next item in list of open applications.

note: if have more 1 window open of particular application, such google chrome, can access different windows leaving selection on application icon during alt+tab menu small duration, , expand show different windows of application. there, can continue press tab until wanted window selected.

there no officially supported way of doing this, there workaround mentioned here.

"spotlight" search

as spotlight search, press super key (the super key either windows key on keyboard or, on macs, ⌘ (command) key) once , search function appear.

tip: can hold super key display list of keyboard shortcuts.

if you're using virtual machine , have 1 super key on keyboard, make sure it's not assigned host key virtual machine, won't register inside of virtual machine operating system. op's solution host key bound left ⌘, right ⌘ worked inside virtual machine.
