Windows 10 dual boot with Ubuntu - Ask Ubuntu

hi trying install ubuntu 16.04 dual boot on windows 10 machine (which alienware aurora r5). have 2 drives, 1 ssd , 2tb backup drive. i've watched , read several tutorials dualboot ubuntu , have encountered singular recurrent problem.

when try install not given option boot concurrently existing windows 10 os. though have made partition (20gig) on ssd drive install.

nevertheless, when select option 'do else' try , select partition manually list of free space options not list partitioned drive. lists backup hard drive , believe usb key.

see image links current partition allocation , ubuntu installer window more information.ubuntu_install_window current_partition

i have read on forum , haven't found answer yet. did find asking similar question no answer.

issues dual boot (ubuntu + windows), uefi , ssd

so question is... how make ubuntu installer either recognize windows 10 , install automatically or recognize partition can install manually?

what have done is...

  1. i have turned off fast boot,
  2. i have tried secure boot disabled , enabled.
  3. i have tried partitioning back-up drive , ubuntu installer still doesn't see partition.
  4. i tried run ubuntu test , crashes every time...
  5. i did install ubuntu using virtualbox using .iso file know possible.

any advice appreciated...
