Is ext4 still prone to data loss in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS? - Ask Ubuntu
when ext4 relatively new, said can lose data during power failure. unfortunately, cannot shut down computer properly, , have cause power failure deliberately. there an article says, should mount ext4 file system nodelalloc
option prevent such data loss. however, ubuntu 16.04 lts not use option default. has ext4 implementation been modified such such data loss cannot occur anymore, or default configuration of ubuntu 16.04 lts unsafe?
every file system prone data loss, answer "yes".
it everyone's personal choice pick file system s/he feels meets her/his requirements. default ext4 ubuntu not chosen because free data loss (or "the best" in other way), because adequately meets requirements of large group of users.
ext4 fine large group. users additional requirements have option of changing default - , discuss advantages of choice others sort of thing ;-).
