package management - How do snaps work exactly and why are they mounted? - Ask Ubuntu

recently started learning more snap packages , intrigued me snap packages mounted own file system , dependencies (correct me if i'm wrong). now, great things snaps bring table, i'd know is:

are snap packages going mounted? seems kind of awkward, since appear in places lsblk , give impression of not being integrated system.

also, ever replace .deb , .rpm packages completely, or different type of animal , complementary .deb and.rpm packages?

as side-note, noticed applications self-contained don't respect of desktop settings mouse cursor theme or icon , menu themes.

snap packages squashfs file systems. way access snaps mount them. yes, always mounted.

they different thing traditional package managers implement. neither replacement .deb packages, nor complimentary.
