Can't boot 16.04 after installing alongside Windows 7 (dual boot) - Ask Ubuntu

i installed ubuntu 16.04 via burned cd on new laptop (lenovo thinkpad) windows 7 installed. chose partition hard drive default way (~50/50 split) dual boot solution , accepted defaults during installation.

when boot machine, goes straight windows. booting cd indicates ubuntu indeed installed. hold shift during boot no grub loader comes up. i've gone bios , checked various fast boot options disable none appeared (though disabled fast or other power intel, wasn't relevant). loads both uefi , legacy , default boot legacy first; changed boot uefi first no effect.

i've tried grub2 solution: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:yannubuntu boot-repair, etc. (i did few times.) error:

the current session in legacy mode. please reboot computer, , use software in efi session. enable feature. example, use live-usb of boot-repair-disk-64bit (www.sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair-cd), after making sure bios set boot usb in efi mode.

i tried following instructions didn't anywhere. default iso ubuntu's website not 64-bit? there else should looking at?

thanks can provide!
