Free Storage on Live USB Not Equal to USB's Capacity - Ask Ubuntu

i created live usb downloading ubuntu desktop , used rufus make usb bootable. when plug usb computer while running windows, usb says there 27.2 gb of free space out of 28.6 gb. however, when boot ubuntu , click properties, tells me there 5.9 gb of free space left on drive. can please explain me or offer way fix it?

what you're seeing root partition of usb drive. remaining space might either unformatted or might on partition. typically other partitions visible other "subdevices": if usb drive recognized /dev/sda, root partition might /dev/sda1 , other (in case larger) partition on /dev/sda2. if remaining memory formatted other partition, might try mount separately (e.g. pmount /dev/sda2 in above example). otherwise, might successful using fdisk format free space. note "might".
