sound - Should I file a bug report if the USB audio quits working after a kernel upgrade? - Ask Ubuntu

i'm new linux, i've been using ubuntu 2 years , first time i've had serious problem wasn't self inflicted. few days ago computer updated kernel 3.13.0-100 3.13.0-101, when did, usb headphones quit working. or rather, cm108 audio controller stopped showing sound output option. still had built in audio , hdmi port options, not usb. when tried shut computer down, launcher , bar across top went away, did shortcuts on desktop, hung there showing desktop background, , had power button computer.

i've booted 3.13.0-100, , problems go away. don't know if kind of problem should reported official bug tracking or problem that's specific me.

updating kernel can cause problems bugs , not. example, updating kernel in ubuntu guest os running in virtualbox can cause fullscreen stop working, not bug , fixed. report bug , leave subscribers bug's notifications decide whether problem usb headphones not working after kernel upgrade confirmed bug. if confirmed bug, reporting fixed in future package updates.

when reporting bug might relevant provide information proprietary graphics driver if have 1 installed.
