Recovering data from a laptop that cannot boot - Ask Ubuntu

this question has answer here:

i have laptop linux mint installed. had power outage, , currently, cannot boot - shows grub rescue when booting.

i don't mind formatting , re-installing system, there couple of files i'd recover.

i ran boot-info live usb, didn't help. here logs: http://paste.ubuntu.com/23390723/

can please me this? i'm not familiar enough linux understand logs.

you must first copy files external storage media first.

  1. boot live cd/dvd/usb of linux mint. can create live dvd/cd burning iso using brasero (if using linux) or winiso (if using windows). making bootable usb can use unetbootin (on linux) or dd cloning (also on linux) or universal usb installer (on windows).
  2. after have succesfully booted live system, plug external storage (hdd or usb). next, mount internal hdd's partitions , copy required data external hdd or usb.
  3. now can install operating system on machine.
